RGV provokes people to show their guts

Nothing can match the confidence and optimism possessed by film maker named Ram Gopal Varma.

 View Phoonk Trailers

For his forthcoming directorial venture ‘Phoonk’ which he says is the scariest of all his horror genre movies till date, Ramu has promised Rs.5 lakhs to  anyone who is able to watch the whole movie alone in the theatre without getting out even once.

It is amusing when we think that this challenge is being offered by the film maker who has not been at his best in the recent times as three of his much hyped movies failed miserably.

But then for Mr.Varma, right from the time he made his first movie, the recipe of success has always been just going ahead and doing what he believes in without caring for anything else.

The producer of ‘Phoonk’, Azam Khan of One More Thought Entertainment is also supporting the director in his plan to prove how much fear ‘Phoonk’ can generate.

No one will dare to say that the time has come to write off the most unpredictable of the film makers in B-Town as we still have not forgotten ‘Bhoot’, and ‘Raat’.

Two faces of True Cinema: swapping between serious and comedy

Indian cinema has two faces and both try to
antagonize each other postures a tough face over their respective
perceptions about the idea implied as ‘true cinema’.

The antagonist side argues that a true cinema is the
one depicting life of the masses in a true sense; not like the one as
shown by the commercial flicks.

There are few best actresses in the Indian cinema
through out the changing generations and each of them anguished for a
commercial recognition at Pan India level.

Actresses of yester years Shabana Azmi, Smitha
Patil, Rohini Hattangadi etc. revolving around various tasks with
different directors in the Parallel Movie segments.

Most of them had neither little nor no major
breakthrough in mainstream films, since the possibility of
accommodating them with in the realm of such movies as thought
‘limited.’

However, many popular actors and actresses were
successful while doing in reverse, for example Sharmila Tagore was
favored by ‘Maestro’ of Indian films Satyjit Ray for his films.

Intriguingly, some of them performed well in regional films too; to say Nandita Das roles in Tamil films, in particular.

Recently Raima Sen has said that she is tired of serious cinema and likes to have some fun and act par with age.

Actors like Sanjeev Kumar, even Amitabh has done
similar roles in serious films. Especially Amitabh paired with Hrikesh
Mukerjee for several of such films. These genres are addressing for
popular as well as serious audience, critically acclaimed.

Current trends slightly changes towards ’story-full’
or fleshy one to woo across the audience. Even films like ‘Black’ won
accolades internationally and at box office too.

Actors too willing to change their image not to restricted with in any commercial or serious face.

”I was shocked by people apathy” – Udita Goswami

Udita Goswami is shocked. And this has nothing to do with her stint in Bollywood. In fact this time around it is sheer lack of sentiments from people which has left a bad taste in her mouth.

The story goes like this. Apparently a few days back she came across a stray puppy near her apartment. Seeing it cry in pain, she enquired about the owner but realized that there was none. Also, from her fellow neighbours, she was informed that the puppy was in such a stage for last many days.

‘And to think about it, no one came forward to help it. How could people be so insensitive? I was shocked by people apathy’, exclaims Udita who is an avid dog lover and already owns three dogs.

‘On inspecting it further, I realized that she was unable to walk at all. Apparently there was some internal injury which had resulted in her being immobile. I was almost in tears when I carried her to a doc and requested him to inspect her further’, details Udita who promptly took the puppy home and made her a part of her extended family of dogs.

‘I started nurturing her and in a matter of two days, she was on her feet – Literally! I keep joking with my friends that perhaps she was just acting all this while because she was destined to join my family. Otherwise what else describes her miraculous recovery in 48 hours flat’, laughs Udita.

‘The dog is now closer to two months old but she is already bullying her much ’senior’ three dogs at my place. It is fun to watch them squabble over minor things. In fact I have also hired a trainer to make sure that my four dogs are well behaved’, says Udita with a smile.

‘Well, the funny part is that instead of the dogs being trained, I am being trained instead on how to understand what they want and to make them understand what I am looking from them. In any case, I am not looking at ‘Tommy, fetch this’ or ‘Mambo, sit down’ kind of commands for them. I want us all to talk and understand a common language and it comes so much handy when I reach back home after a hard day at work.’

Talking about the work front, Udita is currently acting in two films – THE MAN and FOX. Incidentally both the film stars Sunny Deol in the lead though Udita is not wiling to disclose whether she is paired opposite him in any of the two films. While THE MAN sees her in a special appearance, FOX features in a full fledged role. The films are directed by Sunny Deo/Neeraj Pathak and Deepak Tijori respectively.
