If You Want a Big HDTV, You Can Buy It Cheap Now

The LA Times says now’s the time to buy an HDTV, since you can get one for ridiculously cheap. The HD Guru told us why, and what TVs you can score the craziest deals on.

The reason TVs are really cheap right now, he told us, is that typically, new TVs ship in the middle of summer. This year, however, they’re coming out in April and May, so they’ve got to clear out all their inventory—which they have more of than they expected—faster than usual. Meaning you can get 2008 models at steep discounts, especially as the new TVs get closer to hitting store shelves.

You’re also probably gonna find better deals on TVs bigger than 46 inches, because they have the largest overstock right now. HD Guru specifically mentioned a glut of 52-inch TVs, so if you’re looking for something in that size, now’s a sweet time. Before you go, don’t forget to check out our complete guide to buying an HDTV. [LA Times]

Obama’s Excellent European Adventure

Obama’s Excellent European Adventure

Obama arrives in Europe as a “celebrity, yes–heartthrob, no,” according to The Note, as the President landed in London amidst violent protests that stormed British banks (video via The Guardian), which blogger Abu Muqawama calls “an exciting learning opportunity.” Inside the G20, “Barack Obama and Gordon Brown are playing Rocky and Bullwinkle to Nicholas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel’s Boris and Natasha,” according to Reason Hit & Run. In his press conference, Obama downplayed divisions among G20 members, calling it “just arguing at the margins,” according to the Financial Times. Additionally, progress seems to have been made between US and Russia, even though “we’re not looking into anyone’s souls,” in reference to Bush’s comment regarding Putin (via Political Punch). Obama and Medvedev laid the groundwork for further nuclear arms reduction between the two nuclear powers (via Ben Smith).

Conflicker & what you should do?

Conflicker & what you should do?

Conflicker has appeared in too many diffrent versions and it seems
this virus has become more and more dangerous. The most recent version
of Conflicker known as Conflicker C. has been expansing. Also this
new version has new technology built-in which keeps the virus safe from
anti-virus software. According to alerts from experts Conflicker is
about to create hughe impact started on 04/01/2009.

Technically Conflicker will disable all the security features for
the computers. It also prevents users to access to websites to download
new software version in order to prevent Conflickers impact. Moreover
Conflicker after impacts will prevent users access to websites for
computer security such as Symantec Norton and McAfee. Therefore it
will be hard to fix the problem if it is impacted by Conflicker.

At the meantime Symantec and Conflicker Working Group partners has
confirmed that the Aprils Fool (04/01/2009) will be the date when the
newest version of this virus W32.Downadup will be activated.

In order to prevent the negative impact from this dangerous virus
Symantec suggests personal users to have the latested anti-virus
software installed in the computer. Also the automatic protection
should be on at all time.

Symantec also suggests business groups to download the latest
updates for each software which will help to prevent impact from
Conflicker especially software which is related to security. The
business groups have to ensure that they have the latest software
version. In addition they have to scan and clean their hard drives
using tools available to ensure that the hard drive is Conflicker free.
Back up data at this time is another important recommendation from
experts.

Some experts advise “The simplest way to prevent this virus is to
ensure that your computer always runs on the latest version of Windows.
Making sure that the anti-virus software is operated on a regular
basis. And most important turn off the autorun features on your
computer.”

In addition it should be advised that you should not download
anything on the Internet at this time unless it is extremely important
and necessary.
