WTF r u doing here in the video Shahid?

The much hyped Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumahara was aired on Zoom TV on 26^th January 2010. It was nothing more than a pathetic attempt at recreating the Iconic ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’.  Not only did it disappoint, it hurt and killed the patriotic mood of the day by rupturing our favorite song indignantly.

Here is why I give big thumbs down to this new version:

1. Mile Sur was a song to show “Unity In Diversity” ; the new version is a shallow display of Bollywood eyecandy. Deepika, Priyanka,Shilpa et al à great curves but what does that have to do with National integrity?
2. Absence of the iconic Sachin, hockey players like Dhanraj Pillay (C’mon no representation of the National game!)
3. Figures like APJ Abdul Kalam, Sonia Gandhi, Atal Behari Vajpayee who have inspired us all but are found missing in the video.
4. Business icons like Ratan Tata, Narayan Murthy,Azim Premji,  Lakshmi Narayan Mittal have not only contributed to the country but have inspired the youth, yet are found missing.
5. Lataji, Ashaji are missing and an ugly looking + overacting Sonu Nigam is singing in a western tune. So much for national integrity.
6. Salman Khan doing a banyan (vest) ad in the middle of the song!
7. Aamir Khan almost singing ‘Ati kya Khandala’ and destroying the tune of the song. TZP was grt, we get the point but this not the medium to promote your work.
8. Shahrukh doing his trademark opening of arms and displaying ‘emotion’. Food for thought>> All the Khans coming together for one shot setting aside all rivalry; would that not be a great show of uniting for the country?? Unity-is that not what the song aims at bringing about?
9. COMMON MAN totally out of the video!! Tribal people in their costumes singing in the regional languages were the soul of Mile Sur. Take that out and you have a soulless Phir Mile…
10. Shiamak Davar dancing classical in jeans!!  Utter Disrespect!
11. Shahid Kapoor! WTF r u doing in the video? How r u a part of unity in diversity? And Ranbir…What are you trying to show in your white transparent clothes?
12. The sportspersons are *so evidently* put in the video like ‘aloo in the samosa’.

And I could go on & on.  The only good points I could notice are A.R Rehman’s beautiful rendition, inclusion of classical greats like Zakir Hussain, Ustad Amjad Ali etc, the attempt of focusing on children. The best part was the shot with children communicate their feelings through sign language*just ignore the half naked(God knows why) Salman Khan*.

All in all it was DISAPPOINTING and an insult to the Iconic Mile Sur. Catch the old one here  and the new here then put your thoughts in the comments.
