  From Belly Dance to Bhangra, Kathak to Hip Hop and Latin American to Contemporary, BDC infuses the glitterati, electricity and versatility of Bollywood dance on one stage to provide a global platform for talent looking to take part in Bollywood Dance events, TV, Films, Performing Arts and entertainment projects.

  
  

  BDC will include a series of auditions to discover the stars of tomorrow, a spectacular Talent Show Heats which will lead up to the Grand Finale Bollywood Championships in July 2010. What′s more, at each stage of the competition, casting agents, producers and industry representatives will be invited to spot exemplary participants to cast in TV, film and theatre.

  
  

  The events will attract a total of over 5,000 live audience members with an international TV series produced of the show and entries promoted worldwide through online partner DesiTara.com. Invited judges will be present from various media outlets together with other prominent personalities such as casting agents, producers, directors and celebrities, searching for new dance talents who possess the passion, drive and determination to make it in TV, film and stage including Bollywood.

  
  

  The Bollywood Dance Champion 2010 will receive free, premium service tutelage and mentoring from Founder of HDA, Bollywood′s UK Ambassador and Guinness World Record Holder Honey Kalaria herself, and be put forward for top projects and roles across film, TV and the stage. • Who can enter?

  Anyone wishing to be part of a Global Bollywood Dance phenomenon can enter. As Bollywood dance incorporates a fusion of many dance forms, Honey Kalaria's aim is to produce BDC incorporating international dance forms, inviting performers from any dance discipline to take part and be discovered:

  • Pure Bollywood
  • Indian Classical
  • Bhangra and Folk
  • Middle Eastern
  • Salsa, Latin American and Ballroom
  • Hip Hop, Street, break dance and Body Popping
  • Jazz, Contemporary, Tap
  • Other/ Continental (African, Scottish, Cheer leading, Irish)....

  The Auditions will be open to all who have registered, whatever their dance discipline, but must be influenced by Bollywood styles.

  Entrants for the Auditions can be newcomers or professionals, beginners or advanced, individuals or groups, 4 years to adults, male or female. The candidates will be required to register their interest to take part on www.desitara.com honeysdanceacademy.com or by calling 0208 590 8050.

  Shortlisted audition candidates will go through to the Talent Show Heats (Semi Finals) and further shortlisted Talent Heats candidates to the Championships (Finals).

  There will be no entry fee but each participant will be offered professional training in Bollywood dance if they wish. This will be through dance training at one of 13 Honeys Dance Academy London studios or by enrolling in Honey Kalaria's Master Classes to receive tips on audition technique and media training to maximize their chance of success whilst performing on stage in front of an esteemed panel of judges.

  Friends and family can come and support participants by purchasing tickets for the Talent Show Heats and Finale Event.

The Competition

• AUDITIONS

  An audition will be held on Saturday 17th April 2010 in Central London for UK wide entrants. From the thousands of hopefuls, around 300 Semi Finalists will be selected to participate in the Talent Show Heats in May 2010. There is no entry fee for participants to take part.

  TALENT SHOW HEATS

  There will be 2 Talent Show Heats staged in May 2010, one matinee and one evening show for different age groups and categories.

  Each entry will be given marks by a judging panel and 48 winning entries with the highest collective marks will go through to the Finals in July 2010.

  All 300 semi-finalists including the 48 finalists will be listed on www.desitara.com/honeysdanceacademy.com post the event and each entry will get a chance to obtain on line public votes from across the world.

  From the 300 entries, those with the highest votes from each of the 8 categories will have the chance to go through to the Finals as "On Line Public Vote" winning entries, even if they had not received sufficient marks from the judging panel.

  The 48 semi finalists from the Talent Show Heats and 8 winning on line entries will compete at the Championships.

  BOLLYWOOD DANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010

  From the Talent Show Heats, the 48 finalists will compete in the Championships. The finalists will be drawn from 8 categories who will be selected to go through to the Final Championships in July.

  3 entries in each group will be short listed as 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners with the 1st prize winner being declared as the UK Bollywood Dance Champion within that category. An overall online winner will also be crowned as the "Public's Favourite online Bollywood Dance Champion".

  The ultimate award will be for Bollywood Dance Champion 2010 which will be selected from any of the 9 winners.

• Categories, Awards & Prizes

  • Participants will be required to enter in one of the following 8 categories. Each category will have a winner and receive a UK Bollywood Dance Champion (s) title:-

    One overall winning entry will have the opportunity to perform at an array of high profile projects in 2010, with Guinness Book of World Record holder and UK's Bollywood Ambassador, Honey Kalaria as mentor - she was recently involved in Gurinder Chadha's latest film "It's A Wonderful Afterlife" and BBC 1's "So You Think You Can Dance". There are also many other lifetime opportunities on offer, including a part in a Bollywood film for one lucky winner!

    In addition, all winners will be awarded:

    • Several Press and Media opportunities
    • Invited to the red carpet VIP party after the Championships to mingle with celebrities, media and showbiz personalities
    • Crowned UK Bollywood Dance Champions for the world to see
    • Be included in a global TV show of the event

Judges

• The Auditions, Talent Show Heats and Finale events will include an esteemed panel of high profile judges from the Dance, Entertainment, Music, Media and Arts industries and key public figures and dignitaries.

  BDC is the brainchild of Honey Kalaria who will chair this panel but not judge to maintain impartiality. She has been invited to represent and be the 'face' and spokesperson of the event.

  The judges will use their skills and expertise to give marks to each entry. There will be between 3-5 judges on the judging panel depending on Talent Show Heats or Championships with Honey Kalaria chairing each event, and looking out for outstanding performers to promote for various opportunities.

Judging Criteria

• All stages of the Championships will be judged against set criteria that will apply to all dance styles incorporated in each category including

  • Choreography
  • Creativity and interpretation
  • Pattern, blocking, stage use
  • Costume & aesthetics

  Marks will be given by judges and those with the highest marks will go through from Audition to Talent Show Heats to Championships. All semi finalists will be offered a platform to show their talent to the world through www.desitara.com/honeykalaria where the public will be able to vote for their favourite entries online. The winning online entries will also go through to the Semi Finals and then Finals together with short listed candidates recommended by the judges.

Judging Process:

• The marks will be provided for the entries on the following categories with 0 being the lowest and 10 the highest:

  1. Style & Dance Presentation: (Dance Style, Technique, Basic skills, Rhythm & Co-ordination, Clarity of moves)

  2. Choreography: (Creativity, Variety, Shapes, Patterns, Use of Space)

  3. Energy & Enthusiasm: (Passion, Working as a team, Interaction with each other, confidence, smiling, individuality)

  4. Facial & Body Expressions: (Miming to songs, acting skills, self expression through body and facials, interpretation of music selected)

  5. Costumes - This is more important in the Semi Finals / Finals: (Costumes, Effort, creative visual ideas to bring act to life, Use of Props if applicable...)

Rules and regulations

• 1. Open to ages 4 years to 18 & over / males & females / solos & groups / beginners & professionals

• 2. By taking part, the participant is giving permission to be filmed for worldwide promotion and for any photography and visual footage to be used in various mediums

• 3. Group entries with mixed age participants will be placed in the category which relates to the oldest participant of the group

• 4. The same entry can be chosen by the judges and by the public through online voting and these will get a chance to obtain 2 Championship Titles - Overall Category Winner and Overall Public Vote Online winner.

• 5. It will be at the judges' discretion to choose which winning entry is put forward if there is a tie situation.

• 6. Entrants will also be spotted and considered for other casting opportunities across TV, film and theatre

• 7. Successful audition entrants will carry on to the Talent Show Heats in May and finalists to the Bollywood Dance Championships later this year

• 8. Participants may be interviewed for TV and promoted in the media

• 9. Pre audition training and mentoring available at Honeys Dance Academy including a free gift voucher worth £7.50 redeemable against dance classes / selected merchandising
